How do I work?
I am a Humanistic Integrative counsellor mainly working in a person centred way. That means I put my clients at the centre of everything I do. I work with what you would like to bring to sessions and what goals or obstacle's you would like to explore. This space is for you.
As an integrative counsellor, I don’t adhere to one specific counselling model but draw from several approaches including those from:
-
Person Centred Therapy
-
Transactional Analyst
-
Gestalt Therapy
-
CBT
Every client is unique and so I will adapt my way of working to what we both believe might work best for you. I will also be interested to understand how you feel physically as well as emotionally, since our bodies often hold emotions which we have been unable to express, and may use relaxation techniques, imagery and mindfulness as ways of exploring and understanding what you are experiencing.
Although much of our work together may simply involve talking about the here and now, it will undoubtedly be important to talk about things that have happened in your past since earlier life experiences can provide helpful clues as to why you might feel, think or act the way you do in the present. Understanding ourselves is super key.
The most important aspect of my approach is that we work in a way which feels comfortable, respecting the need to take things at a pace that feels right for you.
I am on your journey, at your pace until you feel you don't need me anymore and your box of tools is complete. This will be unique to you.
